Yoga, Ayurveda, Massage, Teacher Trainings, E-RYT, RYT 500
Jodi feels that yoga is a precious gift and one of the greatest influences in her life. Drawn to sharing yoga with others, she began teaching in 2001. Over the years, she has deepened her studies by becoming certified in various hatha yoga styles, including vinyasa, restorative, yin, prenatal and senior/chair yoga.
Her passion for yoga led her to its sister science, Ayurveda. Jodi is a licensed massage therapist, certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor and Ayurvedic Therapist. She has a private Ayurveda practice in Seattle's Greenlake neighborhood, and also works for the Ayurvedic Sciences Department of Bastyr.
With a background in Iyengar and Ananda yoga, Jodi draws from these traditions to offer a fluid and meditative style of yoga, helping practitioners create a sense of grounding, clarity and relaxation through feeling and being awareof their breath, body and movements/postures.
Today, Jodi holds teacher training programs, including in yoga nidra, senior/chair yoga (with Heather Danso) and restorative yoga (with Heather Danso and Melissa Myers), as well as a 200-hour program (with Tami Hafzalla through Synergy Yoga School). Jodi is also faculty on the Shakti, Be Luminous and Spirit Yoga of Japan teacher trainings programs.
Jodi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Leadership. Currently, Jodi is enrolled in a Master’s of Counseling Psychology program, studying to become a psychotherapist.
Yoga, Feldenkrais Method®, Reiki, Art, Educator, YACEP, E-RYT
Heather Danso deeply values the possibilities for supporting our healing from physical and emotional trauma through restorative practices such as Yoga, the Feldenkrais Method® of Somatic Education, and Reiki--practices that empower the practitioner to sense and expand their own intuition, self-knowledge, and choice.
She teaches Yoga for Movement Disorders and Parkinson's, Prenatal Yoga, Feldenkrais Inspired Yoga classes, Awareness Through Movement®, Restorative Yoga, and is continually learning more about the practices she teaches through continued trainings. She creates processes of learning that help students earn their practice, own their own learning, and thrive as students and teachers.
Heather incorporated the Feldenkrais Method® and Yoga into her life as part of her own healing journey. Her dance, yoga, and teaching background combine with her mindful approach to teaching movement—an approach based on body-awareness, compassion, and empowerment. She has expertise in functional anatomy, movement, and teaching methodology. This informs her students' practices, and great skill for adapting practices to support students' individual learning processes.
Heather holds a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature with a focus on Secondary Education, and is a guild certified instructor of the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education® (Seattle Eastside Feldenkrais Training). Her training includes: Yoga for Movement Disorders (Renee LeVerrier and Peter Lynch), 100 hr Pre- and Post- Natal Yoga (Synergy Yoga School), Trauma-Informed Yoga 1 and 2-day trainings (Hala Kouri), Restorative Yoga (Jodi Boone), Senior/Chair Yoga (Jodi Boone), 200 hr Teacher Training (Synergy Yoga School), Reiki I, II, and III (Michael Emanuel), Dance Kinesiology (Pacific Northwest Ballet), BA English Literature (Seattle Pacific University). She is a Yoga Alliance Certified Education Provider.
